Moving 50,000 Visitors a Day While Protecting a Natural Wonder – The Red Beach Sightseeing Train Story

Time : 2026-03-03

When you manage a scenic area that spans over 100 square kilometers and welcomes more than 50,000 visitors daily during peak season, moving people efficiently becomes a mission-critical challenge. Add to that the responsibility of protecting an ecologically sensitive wetland, and the task becomes even more demanding.

This was the reality facing Panjin Red Beach National Scenic Corridor in Liaoning, China—home to one of the world’s most striking coastal wetlands, famous for its vibrant red Suaeda salsa landscape that transforms the shoreline into what looks like an endless crimson carpet. Before 2017, visitor movement relied heavily on shuttle buses and walking paths, which often led to congestion during peak hours, uneven visitor distribution across the sprawling site, and potential disruption to the delicate ecosystem that the area was meant to protect.

That year, Changzhou Aodudu Leisure Co., Ltd. delivered 70 custom electric sightseeing trains to the site—a landmark project that fundamentally changed how the scenic area operated and set a new industry record for the largest single project by both volume and value.

A Tailored Solution for a Unique Environment

The trains we provided were designed with two clear goals in mind: move large volumes of visitors seamlessly across the 100-square-kilometer landscape, and do so with minimal environmental impact. Operating along a dedicated corridor with strategically placed stations, the trains now allow guests to hop on and off at key attractions like Wangyangtan and Yueyatan, eliminating the need for hundreds of daily shuttle bus trips that previously contributed to congestion and emissions.

Our electric sightseeing trains are built on a C-shaped manganese steel chassis—a choice that offers the structural strength and durability required for continuous daily operation over long distances. The full-metal body undergoes an advanced electrophoretic coating process, a corrosion-resistant treatment that protects against rust and oxidation. This is particularly critical for the Red Beach environment, where high humidity and salt exposure from the coastal wetland could otherwise accelerate wear and tear.

Each train set features large panoramic windows and open-air viewing cars, giving visitors unobstructed views of the red landscape that were previously difficult to access on foot. Onboard audio systems provide narrated tours, turning a simple ride into an educational journey about the wetland’s unique ecology and the story of the Suaeda salsa plant that gives the area its name.

Performance That Matches the Scale

The Red Beach project required vehicles capable of handling high passenger volumes without compromising reliability. The electric trains we delivered are powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries with integrated BMS (Battery Management System) systems—a configuration that ensures stable power output, protects against overcharging and overheating, and extends overall battery life. With a range of over 80 kilometers per charge and a top speed of 20 kilometers per hour, they are well-suited for the long, linear coastal routes that define the scenic corridor.

Safety features are woven into every aspect of the design. The trains are equipped with dual-circuit braking systems that provide reliable stopping power even in wet conditions. Two-point seat belts are installed at every seat, and handrails are positioned at each row to prevent passenger injury during sudden stops. Each carriage also comes with emergency stop buttons accessible to passengers, as well as safety chains at boarding points—details that might seem minor but make a meaningful difference when moving tens of thousands of visitors daily.

Beyond Transportation: A New Visitor Experience

The impact of the train system has been measurable across multiple dimensions. Operationally, the scenic area saw an estimated 40 percent reduction in internal combustion vehicle traffic within the core protection zone. Crowd management improved dramatically, and visitor flow became more predictable, allowing the park to allocate resources more efficiently.

But perhaps the most telling outcome is how visitors now experience the park. The train journey has become an attraction in itself—a signature element of the Red Beach brand that visitors often mention in reviews and social media posts. Tourists frequently rate it highly for convenience and the unique perspective it offers, noting that the elevated views from the train reveal aspects of the landscape they would otherwise miss.

By turning transportation into an immersive experience, the park has strengthened its conservation mission while enhancing guest satisfaction. Visitors are now more likely to explore multiple stops along the corridor, which has helped distribute economic benefits more evenly across different sections of the scenic area.

A Partnership Built on Trust and Expertise

For us at Aodudu, the Red Beach project remains a landmark achievement—not just because of its scale, but because it demonstrated what’s possible when engineering meets purpose. With nearly two decades of experience in the sightseeing train industry, we’ve learned that the best solutions come from understanding a client’s unique operating environment and tailoring every detail accordingly.

Since 2006, we’ve grown from producing electric tourist buses with seating capacities ranging from 2 to 23 seats to becoming a trusted OEM and ODM partner for clients across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and beyond. Our in-house production lines give us end-to-end control over body welding, painting, electrical system integration, and dynamic testing—ensuring that whether we’re building 70 trains for a national scenic corridor or a single custom set for a theme park, the quality is consistent and reliable.

The Red Beach trains continue to run daily, moving visitors efficiently and quietly through one of China’s most treasured natural landscapes. It’s a reminder that the right vehicle can do more than transport people—it can help protect a wonder for generations to come while creating memories that last a lifetime.
